Apple iOS 17.0.3 Update Addresses iPhone 15 Heat Issue

On Wednesday, Apple rolled out iOS 17.0.3, which includes a solution for a problem that was causing the latest iPhone 15 models to generate excessive heat.

According to the software’s changelog, this update offers crucial bug fixes, security enhancements, and specifically addresses an issue leading to elevated iPhone temperatures.

Over the weekend, Apple acknowledged reports circulating on social media that the new iPhone models had a tendency to become warm to the touch. Apple attributed this issue to a combination of improperly configured apps, iOS bugs, and the initial setup process, which requires extra processing and consequently generates heat.

The update released on Wednesday directly addresses these concerns within iOS, the iPhone’s operating system. App developers are also releasing updates to rectify any issues with their applications.

Apple clarified that the heat problem was not linked to the new titanium and aluminum frame design found in the higher-end Pro models. Additionally, the issue was unrelated to the USB-C charging port introduced in the new phones.

Apple’s official website explains that all iPhones may experience increased warmth during specific scenarios, such as when they are undergoing data restoration from a backup, wirelessly charging, running graphics-intensive apps or games, or streaming high-quality video content. The company assures users that iPhones are safe to use unless they display a direct temperature warning.
